NFL Week 7

NFL Week 7

Well week 7 wasn’t the best week of football, it sure was a great week for my favorite team- the Seahawks! Sorry, I just had to rub it in to all of you 49ers, Rams, and Cardinals fans! Well, it’s time to get our football going!

Packers vs Commanders

Well, who would have thought? When I was looking at the games this week this was definitely not one I was predicting to write about. The Aaron Rodgers led Packers were the heavy favorites entering this game but it seemed as if things were destined to go wrong for the Packers. The game started off very slow with both teams punting on their first drives. The Packers were the first to strike, however. Driving 42 yards down the field into the Commanders endzone. Packers led 7-0. The Commanders starting quarterback Carson Wentz was injured so they were playing backup Taylor Heinicke. The next score was a shocker. Off a missed punt catch the Commanders recovered the ball in great field position. They were unable to convert on a touchdown but scored a field goal cutting the lead down to four making the score 7-3. The game took a jolt of excitement after a thrilling interception returned for a touchdown by the Packers. This is also known as a pick-six. The Packers now lead 14-3. The Commanders did not let this take their spirits down though, fighting back to score a touchdown and making the score 14-10.  The Commanders were unable to convert again missing a 47-yard field goal. Both teams continued to make costly mistakes. There were no more points scored in the first half. The second half took no time to get going with the Commanders scoring a go-ahead touchdown on the first drive of the second half. The score was now 17-14 the Commanders. The Commanders train just kept on rolling. The Commanders scored two straight field goals and made it a two-score game 23-14. The Packers were not out of this game yet though. Led by Aaron Rodgers, the Packers drove down the field for a touchdown. The Commanders still led 23-21. Aaron Rodgers was reminding us all why he’s the back to back quarterback. The Commanders were still in the driver seat. This was not for long though, as the Commanders quickly punted leaving Aaron Rodgers the ball with 23 seconds left. The drive started off with a 28-yard pass. The ball was now on the Packers 46-yard line. Almost in field goal range.  With five seconds left there was no other option. The Packers went into a thrilling final play, but it was to no avail. The Commanders had won.

Browns vs Ravens

A classic divisional match. This game is what NFL football is all about! Two teams battling it out to the very last second! The Ravens being the heavy favorites, started off slow. The Browns on the other hand were anything but that. The Browns got off to a quick 10-3 lead after the first quarter. A crazy stat to note is that this was the Ravens first time trailing in any quarter but the first. Considering the Ravens are 3-3, that tells you how bad the team is in the clutch. The Ravens, as expected came back scoring a field goal and touchdown in the second quarter. This made the score 13-10 Ravens entering halftime. In the third quarter, quarterback Jacoby Brisett fumbled the ball on the Browns 25-yard line. The Ravens converted, again scoring a touchdown. The Browns scored a field goal of their own though to keep the game close at 20-13 entering the fourth quarter. The Ravens were first to score with a field goal to make the lead 10. The Browns would just not go away though scoring another touchdown to keep it a tight 3-point game. The end of this game was a thriller. The Ravens had a promising drive going before fumbling the ball and turning it over. The Browns then drove down the field. They could not get much offense going but got far enough to attempt a 60-yard field goal. This would tie the game and very possibly shift the momentum. The field goal never had a chance however, with it being blocked by the Ravens. The Ravens led with the ball but were forced to punt. It was now Brown’s ball with 16 seconds left and them being down by 3. The drive was going alright until a critical mistake was made. Jacoby Brissett fumbled the ball and turned it over! A game costly mistake that would leave the final score 23-20 Ravens.

NFL Week 6

NFL Week 6

Well, another week of football is finished! This week consisted of some thrilling games and a decent number of blowouts as well. The week was also full of outstanding individual performances. So, without any further ado, let’s get started!

Saints vs Bengals

A game where the former quarterback for the Bengals, Andy Dalton, took on his former team. A game loaded with star power; this was bound to be a good game. Both offenses got off to quick starts with both teams scoring touchdowns in the first quarter to make the score 7-7. The second quarter consisted of four scoring drives. The Saints could not be stopped however, with them scoring another touchdown and two field goals in the quarter. The Bengals were hanging in there though with scoring another touchdown by a running play from quarterback Joe Burrow. The score was 20-14 Saints going into halftime. The game continued its scoring trend in the` third quarter with the Saints scoring another field goal. The Bengals had a familiar site with a 15-yard touchdown catch by wide receiver Ja’marr Chase. The score 23-21 Saints going into the final quarter. The Saints kicker was having himself a great night scoring his fourth field goal of the night and making the score 26-21 Saints. The Bengals just kept finding ways to stay in it though. The Bengals scored another field goal and made the score a very close 26-24 with 3 minutes and 42 seconds left. This was where the Bengals magic came in with a 60 yard touchdown pass caught by no other but Ja’marr Chase. With that the Bengals now led 30-26. Andy Dalton and the Saints were not able to put any magic together as the Bengals squeaked out the win 30-26. Joe Burrow had the quarterback performance of the week throwing for 200 yards and four touchdowns. I think that Joe Burrow should be considered a top five quarterback now. What do you think?

Bills vs Chiefs

The most anticipated game of the week, this game was bound to be great and sure enough, it was. A matchup of in my opinion the two best quarterbacks in the league. Josh Allen on the Bills and Patrick Mahomes on the Chiefs.  The game started off a bit slow with no scores in the first quarter. But in the second quarter, both teams got going. The Bills were first to score with a field goal taking the lead 3-0. The Chiefs had a counter of their own however, with a 42 yard connection from Patrick Mahomes to wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster for a touchdown helping the Chiefs to take a 7-3 lead. The Bills like usual drove the ball all away down the field scoring a touchdown of their own. After a last second field goal by the Chiefs, the game was tied at 10-10 going into halftime. The game would not stop being close. Both teams put together touchdown drives of their own again in the third quarter. Like everybody wanted, the game was tied going into the fourth quarter. The Chiefs took the lead 20-17 after a field goal made by kicker Harrison Butker. The fourth quarter was not filled with scores but still managed to keep everybody on the edge of their seat. The Bills could not be denied however scoring a go-ahead touchdown with a minute and 4 seconds left in the game. The Bills led 24-20 but they still gave Patrick Mahomes time. All Bills fans were on the edge of their seats as the Chiefs offense walked onto the field. As it seemed like the Chiefs might put together a game winning drive Patrick Mahomes made a game losing mistake throwing an interception! Just like that, the Bills had won the game 24-20. What a game for all fans!

NFL Week 5

Wow what a week of football! Coming off a slightly less exciting week 4 in the NFL, week 5 was nothing short of spectacular. It was filled with many great plays, performances, and above all, the nail-biting endings. In fact, since there were so many thrilling games this week, I will be covering four games instead of two. So, let’s get right into the action!

Chargers vs Browns

A battle of the running backs with Chargers running back Austin Eckler rushing for 173 yards and two touchdowns while Browns running back Nick Chubb ran for 134 yards and two touchdowns. A game full of scores, it came down to an interception thrown by Browns quarterback Jacoby Brissett with two minutes and 55 seconds left in the game with a heartbreaking loss for Browns fan with a final score of 30-28 Chargers.

Colts vs Broncos

A game that consisted of no touchdowns, this was a battle of the defenses. It seemed like the Broncos were going to most likely win with them being up by three with the ball going into the 4th. However, Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson threw a pair of interceptions including one on the Colts 10-yard line that costed the Broncos from running away with this game. The Colts managed to drive down the field making a game tying field goal to send the game to overtime. The colts won the toss and scored a field goal to start overtime. The Broncos still had a shot however. Driving all the way down the field the Broncos were faced with a 4th and 1 at the Colts 1-yard line. Yet again however, the Broncos and Russell Wilson came up short with a final score of 12-9 Colts win!

Ravens vs Bengals

A game everyone was looking forward too, this game did not disappoint. A classic divisional match, between two star quarterback Joe Burrow for the Bengals and Lamar Jackson for the Ravens. Both teams got off to steady starts with the game being tied at 10-10 going into halftime. The second half was slower. A Joe Burrow interception helped the Ravens go up 13-10. The game went into a dry spell for the 4th quarter up until the Bengals scored a touchdown with two minutes left. The Bengals led 17-16 but there was still time left on the clock. MVP frontrunner Lamar Jackson did not disappoint. Leading his team all the way into field goal range. With 3 seconds left Ravens kicker Justin Tucker walked on the field. The arguably greatest kicker of all time nailed the field goal helping the Ravens to clutch out the win with a final score of 19-17.

Chiefs vs Raiders

The final game of the week on Monday Night Football was exactly the type of game everyone was hoping for. A game of the Patrick Mahomes led Chiefs vs the Derek Carr and Davante Adams led Raiders. The first score of the game was a truly thrilling 58-yard touchdown pass from Derek Carr to Davante Adams and the raiders jumped out to a 7-0 lead. This was followed by another Raiders touchdown by running back Josh Jacobs and a Raiders field goal and the Raiders had the early lead 17-0. The Chiefs came back however scoring a Travis Kelce touchdown. Both teams scored one more field goal before halftime and the score was 20-10. To kick off the second half, Patrick Mahomes threw his second touchdown pass of the game to Travis Kelce again making the score 20-17. Now people were getting déjà vu as Travis Kelce caught his third touchdown pass of the night with the Chiefs now leading 24-20. The Raiders countered back again with another field goal 24-23 Chiefs. As if we were dreaming, Travis Kelce scored his fourth touchdown of the game helping the Chiefs lead 30-23. Just as it seemed like things were getting out of hand for the Raiders, Derek Carr and Davante Adams had their second big connection of the night with a 48-yard touchdown pass. With that touchdown it was 30-29 Chiefs, and the Raiders had a big choice to make. They could go for the one point and try to tie the game or go for a two-point conversion to take the lead. The Raiders opted to go for two and……. did not convert. Giving the Chiefs the ball back with the lead. The Chiefs did not look back and won the game 30-29 in a truly thrilling ending to an spectacular week of NFL football.

NFL Week 4

NFL WEEK 4

Hello! Football Dude here and welcome to my first blog post! This blog will cover all the exciting and thrilling moments of two of the best NFL games of the week.

Patriots vs Packers: 10/2/22

The game started with the Patriots on offense and a 37-yard Patriots field goal to go up 3-0. An important thing to note in this game is that the Patriots starting quarterback, Mac Jones was out so the backup Bailey Zappe played the game at quarterback. After a few punts by both teams, the Packers managed to put together a touchdown drive taking the lead 7-3. The Patriots countered back with an interception returned for a touchdown, also known as a pick-six, taking the lead 10-7. After halftime the Packers lead a 10-play drive ending with another touchdown taking the lead again 14-10. The game continued to go back and forth in the second half and it was a tie game at 17-17 going into the fourth quarter. The Patriots next drive ended with yet another touchdown taking the lead for the final time in this game 24-17. The final score of regulation came when the Packers scored a touchdown and tied the game up at 24-24.

The game ended with a truly thrilling overtime. The Packers won the toss and started with the ball but ended up punting. The Patriots then had a chance to win the game with just a field goal but could not convert. The Packers gained possession again and this time put together a drive consisting of 12 plays and a game winning field goal which went through the posts with zero seconds left on the game clock. The Patriots did not have one player who was a star but had solid output from running back Damien Harris who had 86 yards and a touchdown. Aaron Rodgers and Aaron Jones both played great for the Packers with Aaron Rodgers passing for 251 yards and two touchdowns while throwing one interception. Aaron Jones rushed for 110 yards for the Packers as well helping them squeak out this game.

Vikings vs Saints 10/2/22

Next, we’ll head over to London where the Minnesota Vikings played the New Orleans Saints. The Vikings started with the ball and with their high-powered offense scored a touchdown on the opening drive. After a series of punts, the Vikings quarterback, Kirk Cousins, threw an interception. The Saints capitalized on this, scoring a touchdown and tying the game at 7-7. The final two scoring drives of the first half were both field goals scored by the Vikings giving them the lead 13-7. Both teams began the second half with a rough start, but the Vikings were first to score with a field goal giving them a 16-7 lead.

Just when it seemed like this game was getting out of hand, the Saints came back scoring another touchdown, but the Vikings still had the lead 16-14. After another Viking field goal, the Saints scored a touchdown and a two-point conversion making the score 22-19 Saints. The Vikings answered with another touchdown but missed the extra point attempt so it was now 25-22 Vikings. This game was back and forth yet again as the Saints answered with a field goal to tie it at 25-25. The Vikings would not be stopped as they scored for the fourth drive in a row with another field goal to make it 28-25 Vikings. The Saints got the ball back with 24 seconds left driving all the way down and managing to get in field goal range. The Saint’s kicker Will Lutz stepped up. As the ball was kicked it seemed like time stopped. Then the ball bounced off the right and bottom posts and missed! This game came down to the wire and was a true thriller. There were no standout performances in the game, but everyone did play well in this closely contested matchup.
