NFL Playoff Predictions

Well, each week we are inching closer to playoff football! One of my favorite times of the year! There are a lot of surprise teams who have been successful and who have struggled this year. I am looking forward to seeing how this turns out but here are my predictions for the playoff picture at the end of the year.

AFC

  1. Kansas City Chiefs. End of season record prediction- 14-3.

In first place, I believe that the Chiefs will maintain the first spot in the AFC and earn the first week bye in the playoffs. With Patrick Mahomes at quarterback, anything is possible for this team and expect to see them make a deep playoff run again.

  1. Miami Dolphin. End of season record prediction- 12-5.

A team that I love and truly believe in is the Dolphins. Winning the AFC east this year is a huge achievement for whatever team does this, considering the worst record in the division is 6-4. The race is tight between the Bills and Dolphins, and this is going to be an exciting race to watch!

  1. Tennessee Titans End of season record prediction- 12-5.

In the least competitive division in football, it seems as if it is guaranteed that the Titans will make the playoffs again. The question remains, how far can they really go in the playoffs.

Titans running back Derrick Henry continues to show us why he has the nickname; The King.

  1. Baltimore Ravens. End of season record prediction- 11-6.

I have the Ravens barely edging out the Bengals to claim the final division winning spot. This team although loaded with star power and skill, seems a bit to inconsistent to go on a serious playoff run.

  1. Buffalo Bills. End of season record prediction- 12-5.

Although I think they will have the same record as the Dolphins, I believe the Dolphins will beat the Bills again to sweep their head-to-head season series to edge out this team for the division. However, if this happens, the Bills will be the most dangerous fifth seed out there with high hopes for the super bowl.

Stefon Diggs is having another top 5 wide receiver in the NFL type of year.

  1. Cincinnati Bengals. End of season record prediction- 11-6.

It seems like the Bengals are back. I still don’t think this team will make the super bowl again, I do think they will still find a way to make the playoffs though and win a few games in the playoffs.

  1. New England Patriots End of season record prediction- 10-7.

This team is the definition of winning ugly. They still find a way under Bill Belichick to keep winning and it would be surprising to see the Patriots miss the playoffs.

NFC

  1. Philadelphia Eagles. End of season record prediction- 14-3.

The Eagles still have the best record in the NFL at 9-1 and it seems like things are going to stay that way. The Eagles will have their work cut out for them in the playoffs while this team is still young and inexperienced.

  1. Minnesota Vikings. End of season record prediction- 12-5.

They have a huge lead in the NFC north that should help them make the playoffs. With this said, this team has still struggled to beat quality teams on a regular basis during the regular season.

Quarterback Kirk Cousins for the Minnesota Vikings has been outstanding this year as a leader and player.

  1. San Francisco 49ers. End of season record prediction- 11-6.

The 49ers I believe will just edge out the Seahawks to win the NFC west. This team has great chemistry and has looked like their super bowl ways of 2020.

  1. Tampa Bay Buccaneers. End of season record prediction 10-7.

After a awful start to the season, Tom Brady and the Buccaneers are back. I think we were all hoping that the Buccaneers might miss the playoffs but with the NFC south having no real competitors besides them, I believe the Buccaneers will make the playoffs again. Who knows, maybe Tom Brady will even win his eighth ring?

  1. Dallas Cowboys. End of season record prediction- 11-6.

The Cowboys seems like they will make the playoffs again. With a great run offense, solid passing offense, and outstanding defense, there is no reason why this team shouldn’t have success in the playoffs.

File:Micah Parsons Cowboys-WFT DEC2021 (cropped).jpg - Wikimedia Commons

Micah Parsons has been nothing short of spectacular this year making him the front runner for defensive player of the year.

  1. New York Giants. End of season record prediction. 10-7.

If it weren’t for their great start to the season, I don’t know if this team would make the playoffs. However, they are 7-3 as of November 21st and it is tough to see how they don’t make the playoffs with that record.

  1. Seattle Seahawks. End of season record prediction. 10-7.

Rounding out the NFC, is a Seattle team that defines teamwork. This whole team works extremely well together which is exactly what you need for the playoffs. While I have them projected to finish as the 7th seed, I truly do believe this team can make a playoff run.

NFL Power Rankings Week 11

NFL Power Rankings Week 11

Hi, and welcome back to another Football Time blog post. Week 10 was another outstanding week of football, and I figured what better way to get excited for week 11 then to rank all 32 teams. So, that’s exactly what I’m going to do. Please let me know in the comments as well if you like this type of blog post or not.

  1. Houston Texans

Record 1-7-1

Coming in as the worst team in the NFL, with only 1 win this is an easy choice. It is obvious that this team is focusing on the years to come.

  1. Las Vegas Raiders

Record 2-7

For a team with so much talent, this season has been nothing short of a disappointment. The Raiders hav e not been able to put it all together all year and it shows in their record.

File:Quinton Dunbar, Davante Adams (31001391268) Cropped.jpg - Wikimedia Commons

Davante Adams shown above in a Packers jersey, is one of the stars on what has been a disappointing Raiders team.

  1. Jacksonville Jaguars

Record 3-7

Another year, another losing record for the Jaguars. While young stars Trevor Lawrence and Aiden Hutchinson are showing promise it is still not resulting in the Jaguars winning.

  1. New Orleans Saints

Record 3-7

A season that has just gone in the drain for the Saints. Injuries have played a big factor in this team’s success with wide receiver Michael Thomas being out. This team has also made the very controversial choice of starting Andy Dalton at quarterback.

  1. Denver Broncos

Record 3-6

While there might be a little bias here as a Seahawks fan, the Broncos have nothing that makes them contenders to make the playoffs. Every Broncos fan is in pain after the trade for Russ now.

  1. Chicago Bears

Record 3-7

Quarterback Justin Fields keeps playing out of his mind, but the team is still the same old Chicago Bears. A team that should now go into a full rebuild and build around Justin Fields.

Justin Fields shown above has been phenomenal the past couple of weeks.

  1. Carolina Panthers

Record 3-7

Is this high for the Panthers? Probably. However, the Thursday night football win over the Falcons was a gritty win that deserves to be recognized.

  1. Detroit Lions

Record 3-6

A one-point win over the Bears was a nice result for this team. The problem is, most likely it’s too little too late.

  1. Cleveland Browns

Record 3-6

Is it possible for this team to make the playoffs? Sure! Is it likely? No. That is the simple way to sum up the Browns season so far.

  1. Atlanta Falcons

Record 4-6

A disappointing loss for the Falcons. They are still doing better than expected.

  1. Pittsburgh Steelers

Record 3-6

A win against the Saints on Sunday is a relief for this team. They need running back Najee Harris to be better, however.

  1. Washington Commanders

Record 5-5

While beating the Eagles was a great win, they are still in a very competitive NFC east with many hard games still to come.

  1. Los Angeles Rams

Record 3-6

Well, who would have thought? Last year’s super bowl winners are now in deep trouble with a 3-6 record and having quarterback Matthew Stafford and wide receiver Cooper Kupp injured.

To add to the Rams troubles, wide receiver Cooper Kupp (shown above) suffered an injury against the Cardinals on Sunday.

  1. Indianapolis Colts

Record 4-5-1

I have no idea how this team is 4-5-1. Yet here we are.

  1. Arizona Cardinals

Record 4-6

A comeback win vs the Rams, this is a different team with Deandre Hopkins.

  1. Green Bay Packers

Record 4-6

Beating the Cowboys was a start, but the Packers are going to need to keep it going to have a shot at the playoffs.

  1. New England Patriots

Record 5-4

This team’s playoff hopes remain in question. There is no questioning Bill Belichicks coaching, however.

  1. Los Angeles Chargers

Record 5-4

A disappointing loss vs the 49ers on Sunday night really makes you think how legit this team really is.

  1. Cincinnati Bengals

Record 5-4

The former super bowl runner ups, have a hard task ahead of them to repeat that again in a truly stacked AFC that is anyone’s game.

  1. Seattle Seahawks

Record 6-4

After a loss against Tom Brady and the Buccaneers, the Seahawks win streak of 4 games ended. They are still first in the NFC west, however.

File:Geno Smith WFT-Seahawks NOV2021.jpg - Wikimedia Commons

Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith has proven beyond all odds that he can be an elite quarterback in the league.

  1. Dallas Cowboys

Record 6-3

A game that the Cowboys were favored to win, it ended up in a Aaron Rodgers destruction game.

  1. New York Jets.

Record 6-3.

Easily one of the biggest surprises of this season, the Jets seem like they’re for real.

  1. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Record 5-5

Well, whoever counted out Tom Brady this year is now being shown why he is the goat.

  1. San Francisco 49ers

Record 5-4

This team is the definition of a well-balanced team. They have a great running offense, great defense, and a passable passing offense.

  1. New York Giants

Record 7-2

The grittiest team in football, the giants added another win to their total with another one score game.

  1. Tennessee Titans

Record 6-3

The Titans are going to run away with the AFC south again. Now it is about them winning in the playoffs.

File:Derrick Henry 2021 09-19.jpg - Wikimedia Commons

Titans running back Derrick Henry is back to his normal self, being second in rushing yards this season.

  1. Buffalo Bills

Record 6-3

While the Bills are a truly great team, they have now lost two straight and need to get it together.

  1. Baltimore Ravens

Record 6-3.

With a bye week, expect the Ravens and Lamar Jackson to become even stronger as a team.

  1. Minnesota Vikings

Record 8-1

A win against the Bills showed that the Vikings can compete and beat the best teams in the NFL. The Vikings are for real.

  1. Kansas City Chiefs

Record 7-2.

The Chiefs are currently number one in the AFC and for good reason. With the MVP frontrunner Patrick Mahomes at quarterback, anything is possible for this team as we’ve seen before.

  1. Miami Dolphins

7-3

I truly think the Dolphins are the best team in the AFC. They are 7-0 when quarterback Tua Tagovailoa has played the full game and there three losses came when he was injured. This team has everything to win a super bowl from a near unstoppable offense to a great defense.

  1. Philadelphia Eagles.

Record 8-1

After a disappointing loss vs the Commanders on Monday night, the Eagles are no longer the only undefeated team in the NFL, with that said, they are still 8-1 and still hold the number one spot in the NFC due to a win against the Viking in week 2.

Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts is a frontrunner for MVP this year.

NFL WEEK 8

Another week of football is done! Another week full of blowouts, great performances, and miracle endings. A week where many teams proved their legit contenders as well. Now let us get started.

Falcons vs Panthers

The game started off slow with the only first quarter score being a Panthers field goal making it 3-0 going into the second quarter. The second quarter was much more score full though. The Falcons were first to score a touchdown making it 7-3. The Panthers followed the drive right back though driving for a touchdown themselves maintain a lead, 10-7. A critical mistake was made by the Panthers though with quarterback Phillip Walker of the Panthers throwing an interception returned for a touchdown by the Falcons. The Falcons now led 14-10 entering halftime. No team could pull away on the score board in this game as the second half started with a panther’s field goal to tighten up the score 14-13 Falcons. The Falcons were next to score again with a touchdown and making the score 21-13. Now it was time for the fourth quarter! It started off with a Panthers touchdown and successfully converted two-point conversion to tie the game at 21-21. After this both teams just kept scoring! The Falcons scored another field goal to take the lead back 24-21. Both teams put together touchdown drives back-to-back and making the score 31-28 Falcons lead. Then the Panthers had the ball with a little more than two minutes left down by 3. They completely failed to convert however turning the ball over on their own 18-yard line. This game seemed like it was over but no! The Falcons scored a field goal and led by 6 with only 36 seconds left. The Panthers came out however and put together a thrilling play. A 62-yard pass from Phillip Walker to wide receiver DJ Moore for a touchdown tying the game up at 34-34. Then DJ Moore costed his team after just keeping them in the game. Due to over celebrating, he got a 15-yard penalty making the 1-point attempt harder. Next thing you know, the extra point missed, and the game goes into overtime. The Overtime was a nightmare for both teams. The Falcons won the coin flip but threw an interception giving the Panthers great field position with them just needing a field goal for the win. The mistakes continued for the Panthers though with them missing an easy 32-yard field goal for the win. The Falcons drove down the field and put themselves in field goal range for a 41-yard field goal attempt. Kicker Younghoe Koo converted making the field goal and giving the Falcons the Win.

Wide Receiver DJ Moore had a career game vs the Falcons on Sunday.

Commanders vs Colts

A lower scoring game but one that still brought lots of excitement and shock. The first quarter consisted of no scores, but the second quarter consisted of a Colts field goal and Commander’s touchdown to make it a low scoring 7-3 Commanders lead entering halftime. The low scoring game continued with the only score in the third quarter being a Colts field goal.  So, despite such low score, it was now a one point 7-6 Commanders lead. The Colts then began to pull away scoring a field goal and touchdown to make it a two possession 16-7 Colts lead. The Commanders used their grit however to stay in this game and score a field goal to make the score 16-10 and within striking distance. After a Colts punt the game was suddenly in the Commanders control. The Commanders were putting together a great drive before what I think a contender for catch of the year so far should be. A 33-yard pass from quarterback Taylor Heinicke to wide receiver Terry McLaurin to the colts 1 yard line. After a 1-yard Qb rush into the end zone, the Commanders won the game 17-16 in truly thrilling fashion. Here is a link to the highlights of this game including the Terry McLaurin catch.
